Travis Kelce has responded to Meryl Streep’s recent diss against him.
“Do we have beef with Meryl Streep?” Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, asked him during the Wednesday, April 29, episode of their “New Heights” podcast. “Is there Meryl Streep beef?”
Travis, 36, quipped that he didn’t want any smoke with Streep, 76, and preferred to stay on her good side.
“That’s a powerful woman right there,” he said. “I am a fan of Meryl Streep. I don’t have any beef with her.”
Jason, 38, then played a clip of Streep throwing shade at Travis while promoting her new movie The Devil Wears Prada 2.
“The hardest thing about shooting in Milan was walking in stilettos on the cobblestones. I’d like to see Travis Kelce do that,” the actress quipped.
Travis had a shocked reaction to Streep’s comment before teasing that he does have experience rocking sky-high pumps.
“Oh Meryl, you have no idea how good I am at walking in heels. OK?” the tight end said.
Jason, for his part, told his younger brother to put his money where his mouth is and Travis responded he was game if they could locate some shoes in his size.
“We’re gonna have to find some size 14 heels first,” he said.
Jason was ready to get the process going to make “custom” heels for Travis but the football player then started to ask some questions about what the shoes would entail.
“I wear Chelsea boots, are those heels?” he asked.
Jason replied, “No it’s gotta be a stiletto, it’s gotta be a pointy bottom. That’s why it’s hard.”
Travis backtracked his initial response about wearing heels and gave “credit” where it’s due. “I don’t think I can do it, Meryl,” Travis said. “I’ll let you have it.”
Jason then called out his brother for being a “quitter.”
“You’re a quitter? You’re just gonna give up to Meryl Streep?” Jason said. “You’re a world class athlete, Travis!”
Travis responded, “I don’t think I’m going to make it to Italy and walk in stilettos.”
After Travis ultimately turned down the challenge to wear high heels, Jason expressed his disappointment but Travis gave Us a little hope it could happen one day.
“I’ll tell you what Meryl. If I ever find myself in Italy on that cobblestone, I’ll try and find a size 14 and we’ll put it to the test,” he said.
Much like Travis, fans were confused why Streep name-dropped the Kansas City Chiefs star in her interview for the upcoming movie.
“So are Anne and Meryl gonna be New Heights guests for the new movie promo or did Travis just catch a stray for no reason 😭?” one fan asked via X. “@newheightshow @Brandon_Borders @jchat85 spill pls.”
Another fan speculated the comment was referring to a remark made by Travis’ fiancée, Taylor Swift.
“Taylor made a statement on how difficult it must be to learn all the different plays and all the physical work that Travis does, but that he doesn’t hafta do it in heels,” the user wrote. “I think that was in the documentary.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on Friday, May 1.
