Simon Cowell’s mansion in London was burglarized on Friday, Dec. 4, while his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, and their son Eric, 22 months, slept.
According to The Sun, an alarm at the X Factor judge’s home woke up a security guard, who saw the burglar before quickly fleeing the scene. The burglar reportedly stole money and jewelry from the music mogul, 56.
“Simon and Lauren are really badly shaken by this,” a family friend told the publication. “It’s a horrible violation of their privacy. But more than anything they are incredibly relieved that no one was hurt. As upsetting as it is, Simon can cope with losing possessions, as long as his family is safe. That is his one and only concern.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they had been called to Cowell’s property, citing that the “suspect left the scene.”
Cowell was spotted later that day at the X Factor rehearsals.
This isn’t the first time the former American Idol judge’s home has been targeted. In 2012, Leanna Zaloumis — who stalked Cowell — broke in his home and hid inside a closet.
The reality TV personality and Silverman, 38, welcomed Eric in February 2014.
