Why Wyclef Jean Missed The Fugees Reunion

Where Fugees at?

Wyclef Jean asked that question in a song of that same title on his 2000 sophomore album, The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II A Book. But the rapper/producer was nowhere to be found when his ex-bandmate Pras Michel jumped up onstage with their fellow Fugee Lauryn Hill during her set at NYC's Rock The Bells festival on September 3 to perform their classics "Ready Or Not" and "Killing Me Softly."

So where was Clef at? "It wasn’t really a reunion," he explained to Us at NYC's Haiti After The Earthquake celebration in NYC on September 20. "I had a concert, but I got the offer to come. Pras was at the crib, so I said, 'Pras, Lauryn wants me at Rock The Bells and I can't make it. So don't you think you should just surprise her and pop up instead?' So Pras shows up. And there's two Fugees. Then they're like, where's the third? But that's what happened."

And he's not ruling out if the hip-hop supergroup will ever reunite again, "There's an energy and a buzz about the Fugees that everyone likes," he added. "I think that it would be exciting to see that happen again. I don't know if it would be another album — but maybe a song!"
