‘Young and the Restless’ and ‘Beyond the Gates’ Crossover Brings Victor and Vernon Together: 1st Look (Exclusive)

Soap opera icons Eric Braeden and Clifton Davis team up for a drink — and an off-the-books chat — in the first look at the Young and the Restless and Beyond the Gates crossover.

“I wanted a private moment for a drink with my old friend,” Vernon Dupree (Davis) says in Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek at the crossover event, which will be featured on Beyond the Gates, beginning Tuesday, June 9.

The Young and the Restless’ Victor Newman (Braeden) cracks a smile as he sits in what appears to be Vernon’s car before a big event. “I love that, Vernon, I really do,” Victor responds.

Vernon, who is a former senator and the patriarch on Beyond the Gates, points out that he “made sure we have your favorite” as he hands Victor a cocktail glass in the backseat of the vehicle.

“Do you remember the first time we drank this together?” Vernon asks his longtime friend.

Victor lights up, saying it was in Genoa City, where he resides. Vernon reminds him that it was during a debate about a “particular legislature.”

“I remember taking you and Anita (Tamara Tunie) to the Colonnade Room and Anita and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) were discussing music,” Victor continues, painting a picture of the men’s years-long friendship. “You and I had a spirited conversation; I remember over this tequila.”

The gentlemen raise their glasses and cheers, as Vernon teases the businessman, admitting, “Spirited is a word for it.”

Victor takes a beat before praising Vernon for all he’s done as a politician. “What I respected about you, Vernon, is that you never played favorites,” he says. “You never did. I liked your politics. Very fair, very reasonable, very good for business.”

Victor then notes that the future is bright with Vernon’s grandson Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) picking up the torch.

“I understand that your grandson Martin, knows that power is only as good as how you use it,” Victor muses.
