We be jammin'! Ziggy Marley, son of iconic reggae singer Bob Marley and Rita Marley, is all about those "good vibes." The Jamaican musician, known for hits like "Love Is My Religion" and "Beach in Hawaii," welcomed his fourth child, Isaiah Sion Robert Nesta Marley, with wife Orly in March, and his self-titled sixth studio album, Ziggy Marley, dropped Friday, May 20. In tune with his mellow vibes, the 47-year-old shared his favorite jams for the beach exclusively with Us Weekly!
“Harambe,” by Rita Marley: “My mother’s voice is soothing; it's always in rotation. This song takes me home to Jamaica.”
“Positive Vibration,” by Bob Marley: “All of these songs can transport me. 'Positive Vibration' takes it to another level. Good vibes.”
“Firehouse Rock,” by Wailing Souls: “Reggae originals. Give me more of those horns….We put this on before the beach, and it gets my kids dancing.”
“Weekend's Long,” by Ziggy Marley: “Taking time off is a mindset, whether it be a destination like the beach or in your mind finding a place to escape the daily grind….I wrote this song to serve that purpose, to take you away and be a soundtrack for the summer.”
“Forward Unto Zion,” by The Abyssinians: “You can't have a beach mix without this song. The horns, the harmony set the vibe. This is a classic.”
“Mercy Mercy Me,” by Marvin Gaye: “Incredible song with a vision that carries an important message about loving the earth….Let's reverse things before we destroy our beaches, our oceans, our home.”
“Country Road,” by Jack Johnson & Paula Fuga: “I shared the stage with Jack and Paula in Hawaii a few years ago. Listening to them always takes me back there…puts me in a good mindset.”
