As Hannah Ferrier’s drug scandal continues to make waves on Below Deck Mediterranean, several of her costars took to social media to share their reactions.
On the Monday, August 10, episode of the Bravo reality series, Malia White reported Hannah, 33, for having a pack of Valium, a vape pen and a lighter on board after Captain Sandy Yawn received a photo of the stash from an anonymous crew member. The episode ended with Sandy, 55, calling Hannah to the aft deck and confronting her, leading viewers to speculate that the chief stewardess may be fired.
Malia, 30, addressed her decision to snitch on Hannah while appearing on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Monday night. She explained that she first saw the Valium after Hannah had a panic attack over Chef Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran leaving the show on the August 3 episode.
“I think in that moment, when she asked for Valium, is when it really hit me that those were the pills that she was taking every night, all season,” the bosun said of Hannah, who has been candid about her battle with anxiety since season 3. “That’s when it became a real serious thing for me.”
Malia also told Andy Cohen that she felt it was her “duty” to report Hannah because they shared a bunk, and Malia feared she would lose her licensing over the discovery of the drugs.
The Australia native, who is pregnant with her first child and announced in June that she will no longer star on Below Deck Med after season 5, took to Twitter after Monday’s episode to defend herself.
“I like Malia’s arranging skills,” she tweeted, referencing the photo that her castmate took of the drugs. “So that’s prescribed Valium, CBD (which is legal in Spain), a lighter (not sure what this has to do with anything) and my passport holder… And for anyone who’s interested the prescription is on the other side of the box as shown… #belowdeckmed.”
Malia, for her part, shared a lengthy post via Instagram in which she wrote in part, “I never said you CANT have medications – you just have to follow proper procedures that are in place to protect ALL crew members. The Captain of the vessel has the right to know who might be taking what & when!”
