Chrissy Teigen is firing back at her kimchi critics! The cookbook author shared a video clip of herself (via Instagram Stories) making kimchi for her family on Friday, December 7, and it didn’t take long before a horde of social media users began weighing in with some negative comments.

Though the naysayers obviously couldn’t taste the meal Teigen, 32, was whipping up for her family, many took issue with the fact that the star was using her bare hands to combine the mixture of fermented vegetables and spicy seasonings. Some were worried about hygiene, while others warned Teigen to be careful with the spicy Korean staple, which could cause skin irritation.

Never one to fold because of criticism, Teigen doubled down on her kimchi making method. “I’m making kimchi for my family. I don’t care what ‘critics’ think of it,” she tweeted on Saturday, December 8. “I do however worry that their loveless food really, really sucks.”

The Lip Sync Battle cohost later sarcastically added, “Using my feet next time.”

However, just as Teigen’s critics wanted to make their voices heard, so too did her defenders. Korean American chef David Chang had Teigen’s back, responding to the suggestion that she use her feet next time by writing “That’s how my I make my kimchi…gotta use the 🦶”

Added another Teigen supporter, “Kimchi is literally meant to be made with your hands. All Korean food is. A common phrase in Korean cooking is ‘son-mat,’ or the taste of one’s hands. You’re good sis, keep on.”

Thankfully, it doesn’t seem like the Cravings author is letting the critics get her down. By Monday, December 10, she was back to tweeting her hilarious food opinions, including an “atrocious” version of avocado toast on an airplane menu made with shrimp, tomato and capers on sourdough bread. “Plane shrimp are bad,” she mused. “Plane shrimp on avocado toast with capers??? dear god.”
