Cookie Monster has a love of sweet treats and a sense of humor to boot! The Sesame Street resident hosted a Reddit AMA on Wednesday, February 6, and his quick wit and aptitude for funny quips was on full display.
The blue Muppet’s affinity for cookies is no secret, but his ability to amusingly weave the popular snack into just about every response to Reddit users’ queries was particularly impressive. For example, when one user asked how big his cookie collection is, Cookie Monster didn’t miss a beat. “Not very big,” he admitted. “Me constantly run into problem of eating me collection!”
Similarly, the Jim Henson creation also kept the laughs coming when he was asked to name his second favorite food. “Can me say more cookies … ?” he asked, only to reply about an hour later with, “Me thought it over. Definitely ‘more cookies.’” For the record, his favorite non-cookie food is a glass of milk, naturally.

Even though the sweets-loving fur ball repeatedly said he is “not picky” when it comes to cookies (or just about anything else, for that matter), there is a golden ratio when it comes to the ideal number of chocolate chips per loaded cookie. As Cookie Monster explained, that number is “3.14 chocolate chippies per nom nom.”
When asked if there’s anything he won’t eat, the fictional character had a clever answer at the ready. “Me stay away from anything in Oscar’s trashcan,” he dished. “Otherwise me not picky.”
The mention of “Oscar” got Reddit users thinking about the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, which is expected to take place on February 24 without a host. “TBF if Cookie Monster was hosting the Oscars, it would be the first I’d watch them in years,” one user wrote. Several others agreed.
Speaking of celebrities, Cookie Monster revealed that he has a special place in his heart for Sir Ian McKellen, who gifted him with two of his favorite confections when he visited Sesame Street. The children’s entertainer also said he was keeping an eye on Lady Gaga’s career, and named the A Star Is Born actress when asked who he would most like to sing “C Is for Cookie” with. “Me would love to sing duet with Lady Gaga. Me and me friends are monsters after all,” he explained, referring to the “monster” title Gaga, 32, has given her fans. “Me hope she see dis.”
Last but not least, Cookie Monster assured fans that, despite the benefits of healthy foods, his sweet tooth isn’t going anywhere. “Me always be Cookie Monster. Me am what me am,” he declared. “Me love cookies, but me and me friends know cookies are a sometimes food. Me also eat fruits, veggies, and all sorts of stuff. Me monster, me not picky!”
