Fast food restaurants on Twitter can be totally savage, and no one is safe!
Though the likes of Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Burger King and other food-centric Twitter accounts have be known to lob insults at one another every now and again, it turns out that regular people and yes, even celebrities, aren’t immune to a sick social media burn either.

McDonald's announced the debut of its own version of spicy chicken nuggets in August 2020 and Wendy's, which has carried the flavorful food item for years, was most certainly not impressed. When a Twitter user inquired about the chain's "thoughts" on the development, Wendy's replied: "Must have scraped up all of BKs leftovers and slapped a mcprice tag on it," roasting both McDonald's and Burger King at the same time.

In May 2020, a Twitter user asked the Burger King account what its favorite Taylor Swift song is. The account replied, “The one about her ex." Though the snarky retort has since been deleted, it angered Swift's fans and resulted in the trending hashtag, "#BurgerKingIsOverParty."

The food company threw shade at the pizza restaurant in February 2020 after the fast-food chain announced via a commercial that aired during Super Bowl LIV that it was finally adding a delivery option — which the ad dubbed the “best thing since sliced bread.” Shortly after the spot aired, the Pepperidge Farm Twitter account quipped: “Hey @littlecaesars, Congrats on introducing delivery! Can’t wait to hear what you guys come up with next … Wheels? Fire?”

The Wendy’s Twitter account was back to its savage ways in January 2020 when it went after rival McDonald’s via multiple tweets. When a Wendy's follower shared a slightly blurry snap of a McDonald's delivery truck and asked what to call it, the Wendy’s Twitter account shot back, “Is it a garbage truck?”
Later, another Wendy’s Twitter follower said “McDonald’s is better” and the chain came back with a savage retort, quipping, “At freezing their beef, sure.”

The Don’t Be Tardy cast member is a well-known Chick-fil-A aficionado, but that doesn’t mean she’s a fan of all fast-food chains. “I just wanna know who’s like, ‘Hey wanna go get some Arby’s?’ And dead ass means it bc SOMEONES keeping them in business and it ain’t me lmao,” she tweeted in November 2019. Not surprisingly, the sandwich chain didn’t take that pointed dig lying down. “There are restaurants other than Chick-fil-A, Brielle,” the eatery's Twitter account replied.

The home of the Whopper took a subtle swipe at the “I Love It” rapper in October 2019 when the chain tweeted, “Open on Sunday.” Though the brief barb might not seem like much, it’s clearly a reference to "Closed On Sunday," a track off West’s latest album, Jesus Is King, which is basically an ode to Chick-fil-A. All outposts of the Atlanta-based brand are famously closed on Sunday due to religious reasons.

DoorDash, one of Postmates’ biggest competitors, took an opportunity to bash the fellow delivery service in September 2019 when singer Lizzo claimed via Twitter that a Postmates delivery person stole her food. “Truth hurts, need something more exciting?” DoorDash told the "Juice" singer. “DM us.”

In August 2019, three of the most popular food chains began feuding with one another on Twitter after Popeyes announced the arrival of a new buttermilk chicken sandwich. Chick-fil-A chimed in arguing that its version of the food item was supreme, and Wendy’s eventually joined the fray too, taking a swipe at both eateries. As the Dave Thomas-founded chain put it: “Y’all out here fighting about which of these fools has the second best chicken sandwich.”

Days after Wendy’s and Chick-fil-A piled on Popeyes for its wildly successful chicken sandwich, the food item sold out nationwide. So when the Louisiana-based chain began following Panera Bread on Twitter, Panera took the opportunity to take a swipe at Popeyes as well. “Did you follow us because you need chicken?” the eatery asked. “We have some… raised without antibiotics.”

When Kim Kardashian called out Jack in the Box on Twitter in May 2019 and revealed she had a “serious complaint” regarding the chain, Burger King wasted no time jumping into the fast food fray. In response to the reality star’s tweet, the home of the Whopper jokingly wrote: “Jack In The Box to the principal’s office.”

The chain with the barb-filled Twitter feed struck again in May 2019 by paying the Jonas Brothers a backhanded compliment while hawking the return of its own spicy chicken nuggets. The fiery food was MIA for about two years until Chance the Rapper stepped in and unexpectedly started a campaign to bring it back. “If Wendy's Spicy Chicken Nuggets can make a comeback, so can the Jona- oh, wait,” the restaurant’s Twitter account quipped.

Baltimore-based Jimmy's Famous Seafood isn't exactly a fast-food chain, but that didn't stop the restaurant's Twitter account from delivering a sick burn to vegans everywhere on August 29, 2018. It all started when Jimmy's tweeted "Be sure to try our vegan options," and included a photo of a salad topped with cheese, which is not vegan-friendly. When a follower alerted the restaurant that "Feta cheese is not vegan," the Jimmy's account shot back: "Yeah we don't really care." Burn!

When IHOP changed its name to IHOb on June 11, 2018, to become the International House of Burgers instead of the International House of Pancakes, the Wendy’s Twitter account, which is a goldmine for witty zingers, couldn’t help but weigh in. “Can't wait to try a burger from the place that decided pancakes were too hard,” Wendy’s wrote.
However, the name change was only a marketing ploy to draw attention to a new line of burgers, and IHOb is now back to IHOP.

In June 2012, Old Spice inexplicably came for Taco Bell on Twitter asking: “Why is it that ‘fire sauce’ isn't made with any real fire? Seems like false advertising.”
Without missing a beat, Taco Bell shot back, “@OldSpice Is your deodorant made with really old spices?”

When Pharrell Williams wore a hat to the 2014 Grammys that bore a striking resemblance to the hat depicted in Arby’s logo, the sandwich chain couldn’t help but take the opportunity to roast the rapper. “Hey @Pharrell, can we have our hat back?,” Arby’s tweeted.
The “Happy” singer playfully replied, “Y'all tryna start a roast beef?”

Before they torched IHOP for its “new name,” the Wendy’s Twitter account took aim at McDonalds in January 2017 after a follower asked how much a Big Mac costs. Per Wendy’s witty rebuttal, the answer is, “Your dignity.”

Though it makes sense to be nice to your followers, the Wendy’s Twitter account isn’t afraid to put them in their place when need be. After a Twitter user asked to be roasted in January 2017, Wendy’s dutifully agreed and took a dig at said follower’s small social media circle by replying, “Get one of your 51 followers to roast you.”

When a Twitter user provoked Wendy’s in January 2017 by tweeting at the restaurant chain, “BK for the win,” Wendy’s took the bait and shaded Burger King in the process.

Chrissy Teigen is widely respected in the food world, which helps explain why White Castle and Taco Bell were both vying for her affection in February 2014.
It all started when Teigen tweeted that her mentions were flooded with users telling her about Taco Bell’s new breakfast menu. White Castle chimed in telling Teigen she neglects their tweets about “delicious sliders,” to which the Cravings cookbook author replied: “Well well well it's a good ol fashioned showdown.”
White Castle then responded with, “All we have to say is, your an original cover model. We're an original slider. It's a match made in heaven,” but Taco Bell couldn’t let the grammatical error go and simply responded to their competitor with “You're*.”

When rapper Lil Duval asked Burger King’s Twitter account in August 2015 what the fast food chain’s chicken nuggets are made out of, BK wasted no time poking fun at the Meet the Black’s star’s fondness for flashy chains.
“Chicken. What’s your chain made out of?” BK replied.
