Disney World isn’t a typical food destination, but that doesn’t mean the popular theme park isn’t home to some pretty awesome eats. Case in point: One of the newest dishes to debut at the happiest place on Earth combines a hamburger with a popular dessert typically found in New Orleans.
The dish, which is called the Beignet Burger, features a meat patty that’s topped with American cheese, bacon jam, shredded lettuce, pickled onions and house pickles, all held together between fluffy beignet buns that have been dusted with powdered sugar, according to WDW News Today.
Clearly the culinary minds over in the Magic Kingdom were trying to create a menu item that’s both savory and sweet, but one review of this over-the-top burger suggests it didn’t quite hit the mark. For starters, WDW reported the meal was “extremely messy” and tasted like a normal burger with a touch of added sweetness from the beignets. The review even noted that the burger’s numerous ingredients made it “next to impossible” to taste a significant difference between the beignet as opposed to a traditional burger bun.
Still, another consumer called the burger “amazing” and a third party stated they would totally order it again, so clearly this unlikely combo does have some fans.
Tweeted a fan who has yet to sample this meal: “There are not enough words in the English language that can describe how bad I want to try this.”
The burger, which comes with french fries and coleslaw as sides, is served at Disney World’s Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory inside the park’s French Quarter located in the Port Orleans Resort and is available for $14.99.
