Harpoon Brewery and Dunkin’ are at it again! Months after the two companies teamed up in the fall to release Harpoon Dunkin’ Coffee Porter – an alcoholic beverage that blended the doughnut chain’s espresso blend coffee with the drink brand’s famous craft beer – they’ve joined forces once more to create yet another seasonal libation.
This drink, Harpoon Dunkin’ Summer Coffee Pale Ale, will be available starting on Thursday, April 4, and customers will be able to purchase it through the summer season. It’s expected to be sold in both 12-ounce cans and draft at select retail locations.
While the aforementioned coffee porter was a balanced and smooth brew that offered robust and roasty notes reminiscent of fall, at five percent ABV, the new beer is decidedly lighter and ideal for those long, hot summer days. More specifically, the drink brings together Dunkin’s signature iced coffee and Harpoon’s bright, summery pale ale.
“Our brands have such passionate, loyal fans, who start their busy day with a cup of Dunkin’ coffee and end it by enjoying one of Harpoon’s famous craft beers,” said Tony Weisman, Dunkin’ U.S. chief marketing officer, of the collaboration in October 2018. “We’re thrilled to now finally bring the two together, partnering with one of the most respected craft breweries in the country to offer coffee lovers and beer enthusiasts alike a classic new taste to celebrate the season.”
At the time, the Harpoon team was equally enthused. “Dunkin’ has been there for us since the early days when getting the brewery up and running required a lot of beer, and even more coffee,” explained CEO and cofounder of Harpoon Brewery, Dan Kenary. “We couldn’t think of a better way to pay tribute to the company that’s helped fuel our success than to create something special for our fans by combining the taste of their favorite morning brew with one of ours.”
And while consumers haven’t yet had a chance to weigh in on the Summer Coffee Pale Ale, the Harpoon Dunkin’ Coffee Porter was generally well received. “I’m a New Englander. I had to,” wrote one Twitter user who also shared a photo of himself drinking the beer. Added another: “Dunkin Donuts Harpoon review: all beer tastes tell same to me including this one.”
