Jennifer Garner is one dedicated chicken mom! On Monday, July 2, the Love, Simon star celebrated her chickens’ first birthday, and even made her fowl friends a bug cake to mark the special occasion.

“It’s hard to believe a year has flown by since these ladies hatched,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of her presenting the chickens with their hatch day treat. “They grow up so quickly.”

However, despite Garner’s best efforts, the chickens didn’t seem all that interested in the “cake” she presented to them. In the next shot, a video clip shows her setting the celebratory snack down in the coup while singing “Happy Birthday” to the chickens as they turn in the other direction.

“Do you care? Caption Hook. Bugs,” the 46-year-old says to one of her feathery friends.

Despite the chickens’ apparent lack of interest, a close-up photo of the cake reveals Garner can make just about any food look delectable. Sure, the bug topping isn’t for everyone, but underneath the insects there are colorful layers of spinach, apples, strawberries and melon.
