Oreo is at it again! America’s Favorite Cookie, which has existed in a myriad of different varieties over the past several months, is reportedly getting an intergalactic makeover in honor of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

The “Marshmallow Moon” Oreos will apparently feature a marshmallow-flavored pastel purple creme filling (to mimic the moon, naturally), and will also boast some space-appropriate etchings on the outside of the cookie. In other words, instead of the traditional Nabisco stamp, these sweet treats will be decorated with pictures of a moon and a trio of little stars, and/or a spaceship design.

As noted on leaked photos of the packaging, the confections will honor the very first human moon landing, which occurred as part of the Apollo 11 mission on July 20, 1969.

According to the Candyhunting Instagram account, which strives to share photos of the “newest junk foods,” the Oreos will have that moon and stars design and come in a special package that uses phosphorescent (glow-in-the dark) ink and has stickers on the back.

Candyhunting also points out that this isn’t the first time a junk food has been given the “Marshmallow Moon” moniker: Apparently Ben & Jerry’s released a Special Stash flavor by that same name in 2017.

However, another Instagram user who goes by the handle Markie_devo, says that while the “Marshmallow Moon” Oreos will have that pretty purple filling, the cookies themselves will be decorated with a rocket ship, not stars.

Regardless of how the cookies may or may not look, Oreo fans seem psyched by this rumored debut, which is expected to occur in the coming weeks. “Oooooo I do love marshmallows,” commented one Instagram user. Added another: “Well this is exciting!”

In fact, the cookies are apparently enticing enough to sway even Oreo skeptics. As one Instagram user put it, “I don’t like Oreos but I’ll eat these.”

These upcoming treats come on the heels of the release of the Game of Thrones-themed Oreos on Monday, April 8, in honor of the HBO drama’s final season, and the seasonal, egg-shaped Easter Oreos, which are currently on sale at Target.
