Pink Opens Up About Becoming a Winemaker: ‘It’s My Heart Project’

From Grammy winner to winemaker! During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, April 22 , Pink opened up about her decision to become a wine producer, which had long been a goal of the singer’s.

The choice was even a surprise for DeGeneres, 61, who admitted she was a bit unsure when the 39-year-old songstress revealed she was getting into the booze business. “When you said you were going to start making wine, I pictured, like, a row of six plants back in your yard,” the host explained with a laugh.

However, Pink’s hobby has proven to be quite fruitful – literally. Her 25-acre vineyard produces organic wine, and according to the “What About Us” singer, it has already sold 85 cases since opening in late 2018. “It’s called Two Wolves and it is my heart project,” the recording artist explained to DeGeneres. “I’ve had two dreams in my life – one I’m gonna do in a minute [sing] and the other is making wine.”

After Pink joked that DeGeneres was in the winemaking biz with her – “we’re on our knees, listening to music, pruning” – she went on to explain that this isn’t just another case of a famous person slapping their name and their own label on a bottle of vino. Instead, she’s actually incredibly involved in the process.

“I went school [to learn about winemaking]” she revealed, noting that she’s a high school dropout. “I think education is sometimes wasted on the young because we don’t know what we’re interested in, but I love learning and I love hard work. I like to be busy.”

Though it might not seem like it, Pink likens winemaking to a creative outlet, much like singing. “It’s art, too, and it’s beautiful and it’s creative and it’s me and one other woman,” she told the comedian. “We’re just doing the damn thing.”

In October 2018, the mom of two told Food & Wine that being a winemaker is “way harder than a concert.” She added: “It’s the hardest I’ve ever worked, physically.”

Pink isn’t the only one in her family who likes to work hard and appreciates the satisfaction of a job well done. As it turns out, the performer’s daughter, Willow, 7, also enjoys toiling away, and earns money by helping dancers change in and out of their costumes during her mom’s concerts. “She really does work,” Pink told DeGeneres. “She’s already asked for a raise and she also has lemonade stands.”

Apparently, one of Willow’s recent ventures was to raise money for sloths, and according to her proud mom, the elementary school student is now looking to raise money for a lizard sanctuary. Pink and husband Carey Hart are also parents of son Jameson, 2.
