Ruth Bader Ginsburg now has her very own beer! Sam Adams announced recently that it had brewed a beer in honor the Supreme Court justice, and the final product is slated to be served at an event at the Boston brewery on Friday, March 29.

The drink, which is a Belgian Bruit IPA, is called “When There Are Nine.” The beer is named after Ginsburg’s infamous response to the question, “When will there be enough women on the Supreme Court?”

However, per a humorous event description for the upcoming gathering, that clever moniker wasn’t actually the first choice. “We wanted to name it Brut Bader Ginsburg but our legal team, uh, dissented,” the description states.

Fittingly enough, the soon-to-be-released beer was brewed on International Women’s Day, which was celebrated on March 8, by ladies at craft breweries across the country.

Furthermore, the blend of hops used in this beer were created as a result of a yearly partnership between the Pink Boots Society – an organization dedicated to assisting, inspiring and encouraging women beer industry professionals – and hop purveyor Yakima Chief.

Currently, there are plans to only make “When There Are Nine” available to those that attend Friday’s event. However, if you are able to make it to Boston, a $20 ticket to the shindig will buy you a pint of the RBG-inspired libation, a serving of four dumplings from local Boston restaurant Mei Mei and a donation to the Pink Boots Society.

In fact, Sam Adams stated that in addition to all of the beer-related donations to the empowering organization, it will also be giving the Pink Boots Society $5 from every ticket sold.

Lastly, in keeping with the RBG theme of the night, the event will feature a plank contest to benefit the ACLU’s Women’s Rights Project, which Justice Ginsburg founded earlier in her career. The friendly competition serves as an obvious nod to the beloved judicial figure’s rigorous workout routine. Cheers to RBG!
