Counting On

Network: TLC

Counting On is a spinoff of 19 Kids and Counting, which originally featured Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 kids: Joshua, twins Jana and John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace and Josie. Counting On debuted in 2015 and primarily focused on Jill, Jessa and their respective expanding families.

Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, left the show in 2017 as he faced backlash for sharing transphobic beliefs via social media. (TLC noted in a statement at the time that the network had “no plans” to feature Dillard on the series moving forward.) The couple later opened up about their experience filming Counting On, claiming in 2020 they didn’t get paid until around the time they left the show. Jill further outlined her strained relationship with her parents and the financial difficulties she faced from her time on reality TV in her 2023 memoir, Counting the Cost.

Counting On aired for 11 seasons before being canceled in 2021. TLC officially cut ties with the Duggar family after Josh was arrested for receiving and possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison in 2022.
