Derick Dillard began courting Jill Duggar, the second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in 2013. The couple’s road to marriage was highlighted on the Duggar family’s TLC series 19 Kids and Counting. Following their 2014 wedding, the pair continued to star on the reality series, which was canceled the following year. Jill and her husband then starred on the spinoff series Counting On from 2015 to 2017. (Counting On was canceled in 2021.)

The couple started their own YouTube family channel following their reality TV exit. They were later featured in the Prime Video docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets in 2023.

Derick and Jill welcomed sons Israel and Samuel in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Their third son, Freddy, was born in 2022 following a miscarriage. In 2024, the twosome revealed the loss of their stillborn daughter, Isla.
