Glee

The hit musical series Glee aired on Fox from 2009 to 2015. The show follows members of the glee club of William McKinley High School as they deal with issues regarding sexuality, race, teen pregnancy and other family matters. The glee club is comprised of the director Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) and students Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron), Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale), Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith), Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley), Puck (Mark Salling), Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz), Brittany Pierce (Heather Morris), Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) and Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr.). Other characters include guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) and cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch).

In 2013, Monteith died of a drug overdose at age 31. Following his death, Glee aired a tribute episode titled “The Quarterback.” It was later announced that season 6 would be the show’s last. (Costars Salling and Rivera passed away in 2018 and 2020, respectively.)

The series was highly praised and garnered six Emmy Awards, five Satellite Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and 14 Teen Choice Awards throughout its run. A film titled Glee: The Concert Movie was released in 2011 and documented performances from the Glee Live! In Concert! Tour that same year. In 2022, a docuseries called The Price of Glee aired on Investigation Discovery unpacking the cast’s ups and downs through the years.
