Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has previously hinted that he secured a coveted invite to his tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift’s wedding — but it appears a Kansas City clothing store has confirmed his attendance.
“KC CHIEFS Andy Reid, Brett Veach and Rick Burkholder getting ready for the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Wedding! 🪡Custom made by PETERS CLOTHIERS,” the store wrote via Instagram on Friday, June 12, seemingly breaking the news that the head coach will be present when Kelce, 36, and Swift, also 36, say “I do.”.
The accompanying photos showed the trio getting fitted for their tuxes, with Reid, 68, appearing in the first shot.
The post came the same day that Reid was asked in a press conference if he was invited to his star tight end’s wedding.
“I can’t talk about it,” he replied.
That hasn’t stopped the three-time Super Bowl champion coach from dropping hints. A week earlier, he appeared on The Stephen A. Smith Show, where he talked about losing weight to fit into his tux.
“Listen, I’ve cut back on the cheeseburgers now that I’m older,” he said on the June 5 episode. “I can get in the tuxedo, so there’s a chance I’ll be there, for sure.”
In May, he was asked on radio station 96.5’s The Drive show if he had received his invitation yet.
“Well, I probably have … and if I don’t outgrow my tuxedo before then, I’m going,” he quipped. “But you keep talking about this barbecue, I might have to go get some.”
Details around the wedding remain scarce, but Swift and Kelce are rumored to be preparing for a ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City, potentially on July 3.
With the speculated date falling just weeks before training camp begins for the Chiefs, Reid was also asked on Friday if the buildup to the wedding has been a distraction for Kelce.
“Listen, he has been here most of the offseason if not the whole offseason,” Reid said. “He’s been around. It is good to have him here. He did the mandatory camp and [did] a nice job there. It’s good to have him back in and rolling.”
He added, “You see no distractions with that and the wedding. It’s like when I got married my wife did everything, so I just kinda followed her lead on it.”
Andy married his wife, Tammy Reid, in 1981 and the couple share five kids. She has been by his side throughout his NFL coaching career, including a 14-year run as Philadelphia Eagles head coach, where he said he met Swift before Kelce ever did.
“She’s a Pennsylvania girl, so I got to know her before Trav did,” Reid joked during his The Stephen A. Smith Show appearance. “I’m happy for them that they’re in love. That, to me, is the most important thing. Both of them are famous people and great people, and more power to ‘em.”
