Kimberly Brown, the wife of former BYU football star Curtis Brown, made a poignant post about their 2-year-old son, Haze, just days before he died by drowning in the family pool

“The age gap was my biggest worry…and it’s turned out to be the biggest blessing. 🤍,” she wrote via Instagram, referencing Haze’s relationship with his four older siblings. “Watching the boys love on Haze has been one of my favorite parts of this season of life. He absolutely adores his big brothers, and they adore him right back. He’s the luckiest little guy.”

Kimberly and Curtis, 42 — who was a star running back at BYU from 2002 to 2006 — also share 13-year-old triplets Julie, Cruze and Kash and son Trey, 12.

“They are so patient with him and love him like crazy!” Kimberly added. “It makes me so excited to see the dads they’ll be someday. Haze was exactly what our family needed. 🥹.”

Haze died on Sunday, July 26, after being found unresponsive in the pool at the Browns’ home in Clovis, California.

First responders attempted to revive Haze upon arrival, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.

Officials have said that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the toddler’s death.

“The Brown family has experienced an unimaginable loss,” a GoFundMe arranged for the family reads. “Kim and Curtis recently lost their miracle baby, Haze, in a tragic drowning accident. No words can ease the heartbreak they are facing as they grieve the loss of their precious son.”

The fundraiser, which will “help ease the financial burden of funeral expenses and other unexpected costs, allowing the Brown family to focus on healing and being together,” has raised over $94,000 at the time of publication.

Two days before Haze’s death, Kimberly reflected on a recent family trip to Newport Beach, California.

“There’s just something about ending the day around a fire. 🤍,” she shared via Instagram on July 24 alongside a carousel of photos from the trip. “We usually walk to the pier every night for ice cream, but this year we switched it up and made s’mores every single night. 🍫🔥 Haze wasn’t a huge fan of the s’mores, but he definitely loved throwing marshmallows into the fire. 🙄😂.”

She added, “Haze is hilarious. Whenever he does something naughty he closes his eyes really tight. I swear he thinks if he can’t see me then I can’t see him. 😆.”
