ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky is at it again with another viral hot take, revealing on the air that he was “devastated” when he learned his wife was pregnant with the couple’s daughter.

“When we had our triplet sons and then my wife notified me that she was pregnant, I was devastated,” he said during a Monday, August 17 segment on First Take. “I was bummed. Just because I was so tired.”

Perhaps sensing what he had just said, Orlovsky, 43, clarified, “And now I adore my daughter.”

The former NFL quarterback married his wife, Tiffany Orlovsky, in 2009, and the pair now share four kids. They welcomed triplets Madden, Hunter and Noah in 2011, and daughter Lennon in 2015.

Though Dan has a history of putting his foot in his mouth on TV, he has shown himself to be a loving father over the years.

Madden, who has autism, has appeared with his dad on ESPN’s NFL Live the past two years on Autism Awareness Day. During Madden’s appearance in April 2026, he even brought his dad to tears while shouting out his entire family during the episode.

“If you’re watching this, mom, I love you,” Madden said. “Hunter, you’re my favorite twin. Noah, I do like you. And Lennon, you’re a good sister. Thank you all for supporting me.”

Madden then ran to give his dad a hug during the emotional moment.

“Madden, I just want to tell you how inspiring you are to so many people,” Dan’s cohost Laura Rutledge told him. “There’s a lot of people watching right now that may think they can’t do something like this or they can’t go on TV and talk and sing and you’re up here being absolutely awesome.”

The year before, Dan praised his son on TV, referring to Madden’s autism and his love of drawing as his “superpowers.”

“His favorite thing in the world is to draw, to create characters,” he said. “It’s his superpower, it’s his favorite thing to do and he’s incredibly talented at it.”

Dan has also shared proud — or just adorable — moments with Lennon over the years, whether it’s a postgame kiss from his then-toddler daughter during his playing days, or having her caddie for him at the Travelers Championship in 2023. Earlier this month, he shared via X that he went for a run with Lennon and threw up, proving he is “old now.”
