Amid her ex Travis Kelce’s high-profile wedding to Taylor Swift, influencer Kayla Nicole has adjusted her expectations when it comes to romantic relationships.
“I don’t know if I believe in a perfect love story,” Nicole, 34, told Spiritual Word in a video posted on Monday, July 13. “I’m grown now, you know what I mean?”
She added, “Love is hard. Love is a choice every day choosing the same person.”
Nicole also posted the video to her Instagram Story on Monday, which was taken on the red carpet of the 2026 BET Awards on June 28.
Five days after the interview was filmed, Nicole’s ex , married Swift, 36, in a star-studded ceremony at New York City’s Madison Square Garden surrounded by 1,000 of their nearest and dearest friends and family members.
Nicole and Kelce, 36, dated off-and-on for five years before calling it quits in 2022.
Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship in September 2023, when the pop star attended a Kansas City Chiefs game for the first time. The couple announced their engagement in August 2025.
Nicole has not shied away from discussing her previous relationship with Kelce since their split, especially as the NFL star has exploded in notoriety thanks to his famous wife.
In February, Nicole hinted that she and Kelce had “compatibility issues.”
“Right person, wrong time,” Nicole suggested in a TikTok live conversation with Love Island’s Ace Greene.
Nicole insisted she was “out of the athlete stage” when it comes to dating during an appearance on the “Behind the Likes” podcast in January 2024.
“I would love to just date someone that — I do think that I’m attracted to men in positions of power, I do think that those types of men are attracted to me,” she said. “So, I would love to date an executive of a record label or a movie producer.”
Nicole said her ideal date night would be “courtside at a Laker game” with her partner, instead of cheering them on from the stands.
“That’s my kind of guy,” she explained. “I don’t really need to go to any more sporting events because I have a jersey on with somebody’s name on the back.”
In October 2023, Nicole detailed how the split from Kelce affected her health.
“I had lost a substantial amount of weight within a very short amount of time,” she told People. “I wasn’t sleeping, I wasn’t eating. I was really abusing melatonin to sleep at night. I started going to therapy and quickly realized, ‘OK, it’s one thing to be physically fit, but it’s another thing to be mentally fit.’ You could be in the best shape of your life, but mentally, if you are not a healthy person, it’s not going to feel good.”
