Cold temps and falling snow have nothing on the wool fedora. Its wide brim protects you from falling snow while the wool traps in heat where you lose it the most. Add a chunky scarf to protect your ears and neck, and you can face any harsh seasonal weather.
But pulling off a fedora can be harder than it seems, which is why Us is taking cues from celebs like Kristin Cavallari, Jessica Alba, Chrissy Teigen and Lupita Nyong’o for outfit inspiration.
Hats off to Cavallari (above), who released a full photo of her newborn daughter, Saylor, on January 6, for pairing the topper with a two-tone shearling coat, black skinnies and matching boots during a birthday meal with her mother on January 5. “Birthday lunch attire with my momma,” the former Hills star, 29, captioned a pic on Instagram.
Adele kept her black version classic by pairing it with a matching wool overcoat.
Jennifer Aniston made casual layers look polished when she paired her scarf and jacket with a fedora in NYC.
This type of hat wasn’t made only for neutral outfits. The Vampire Diaries actress Kat Graham accessorized her bright yellow cardigan and plaid scarf with a nude style.
Fedoras can also be the right fit on a more mild day. Alba, 34, proved as much when she wore her topper while strutting in a pair of denim flares and a flannel button-down.
Alessandra Ambrosio went with an almost all-white outfit to lend a light and airy appearance while keeping warm.
Nyong’o, 32, pulled off the look by mixing two chunky knits — her turtleneck and oversize cardigan.
And who says monochromatic can’t work with a hat? Teigen, 30, modeled the style in all army green while walking her French bulldog, Pippa.
