Leading up to its New York Fashion Week-timed Maternity Fashion Week event, Zulily just released its second annual list of the best-dressed celeb bumps—and while some are no-brainers, a few might surprise you!
“Forget everything you think you know when it comes to maternity style,” Robin Otto, a maternity style expert for the online retailer, tells Us Weekly. “You don’t need to hide in black leggings and an oversized top for nine months.”
“Just wow,” says Otto. “Between her red carpet styles (who can forget the backless black number) to her everyday eclectic looks, she always looks chic no matter what.” Our favorite look on Lively: the plunging, lemon Gucci dress she donned on Oct. 20.
“For her second pregnancy, Kristen showed a great balance of fashion and comfort, and we couldn’t agree more with her when it comes to keeping your maternity clothes fitted,” the stylist shares. Otto believes that you should find the styles that most flatter your body, then rock the heck out of them.
Style fit for a princess! “Princess Kate made the list again for nailing classic elegance the second time around,” the maternity expert notes. “Kate knows how to pick silhouettes that flatter her figure and give her a prim and polished look.”
The Southern belle has been effortlessly sweet and chic throughout her pregnancy, and never more so than at the 2014 Country Music Association Awards in November. “She was absolutely glowing when she hosted the CMA awards, wearing 10 absolutely stunning different looks that all fit her beautifully,” gushes Otto.
“If there was a bohemian category on this list, Jennifer would own it,” she tells Us. Unlike many pregnant woman, Love Hewitt has embraced prints, something Otto believes no bumping lady should be afraid of!
Mowry scored a spot on Otto’s list by rocking the rainbow. “Tamera has been looking awesome throughout her pregnancy and has not been afraid to wear color,” Otto tells Us. “Remember, skip the black!”
“With a super petite figure, Kourtney does a great job of wearing silhouettes that work well, and has been known to incorporate both maternity and non-maternity clothes into her wardrobe,” Otto notes, encouraging all pregnant ladies to pull from their own wardrobes when they can.
Then again, black isn’t always a bad thing. Otto loves Larter’s pregnancy style because, “Larter has been looking radiant throughout her pregnancy—and she knows how to make an all-black ensemble pop by pairing it with the right accessory.”
“With baby number two, this Latin rocker has not given up her penchant for spicy, sexy style – just look at that deep V-neck!” says the stylist. Plus, Otto notes that in lieu of gifts, Shakira has been encouraging friends and fans, via her registry, to donate clothes and food to children in need.
She may have only just announced her pregnancy, but Otto has very high hopes for Deschanel!
“Although Zooey’s news is very fresh, we expect that her usual indie vibe will translate throughout her pregnancy,” Otto tells Us. “She promises to be a fun one to watch in the coming nine months!”
