'Tis the season for sleeveless tops!
If the thought of wearing tanks—and exposing your arms—gives you more anxiety than a holiday family dinner, it's time to adjust your mindset. That's right: You don't have to have incredibly toned arms a la Michelle Obama to wear the style with confidence; you just need the right fit.
"It's all about proportions," celebrity stylist Erin Walsh tells Us Weekly. Walsh, who counts Kerry Washington and Sarah Jessica Parker as clients, has partnered with Dove Advanced Care to help women bare their arms proudly this summer. "For sleeveless styles, it's all about confidence, so if you're a size 2 or a 20, it's about feeling comfortable in what you're wearing," she says.
To find the most flattering top, Walsh advises that you look up from your biceps and start with your shoulders. "With really broad-shouldered women, it's best to focus on the most feminine parts of your shoulders like the collarbones," she tells Us.

For women with less toned arms, think ethereal. "You don't have to wear something tight. There are plenty of sleeveless shirts that are billowy and don't cut into your arms," Walsh, who also works with Maggie Gyllenhaal, tells Us.

Still not sure where to start? Look for an A-line style. "It tends to narrow and elongate while showing the finer points of your shoulders," Walsh says. "And that's generally more flattering."
