Who doesn't want to look like the girl who stole Ryan Gosling's heart in The Notebook? There's just something effortlessly cool and chic about Rachel McAdams — likewise with her makeup. At the premiere for Midnight in Paris in ubercool Cannes, the star's sister, makeup pro Kayleen McAdams, created a subtle yet sexy smoky eye. Kayleen tells Us Weekly the secrets behind the look.
"For the Midnight in Paris premiere, Rachel's hair, which is a gorgeous shade of blonde right now, was '40s inspired," Kayleen tells Us. To modernize the look, McAdams chose to play up the makeup with a bronzy, sun-kissed surfer girl glow to offset the structured hair and dress.
"I used Cle de Peau Cream Foundation, Amazing Concealer and MAC Pressed Powder for a flawless complexion. This time we wanted to go with a more dramatic eye and keep the lips natural," she explains. "I lined her eyes with NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Skorpios, a shimmery iridescent copper shade. I then used the burgundy shade from the Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Spices all over the lid and applied two coats of CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black."
"On the apples of her cheeks, I used NARS Blush in Lustre, a sheer golden apricot shade, and for a sun-kissed bronzy look, I used Nuxe Cream Bronzer," Kayleen continues. "To finish the look and create a soft shimmer, I used a light dusting of Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight. Finally, on her lips I used NARS Lip Gloss in Belize, a light gloss with just a tiny bit of gold shimmer."
