We’d go Into the Woods with this adorable couple!
Believe it or not, the Royal Basketball Game wasn’t the only special event on Monday, Dec. 8. One borough away, British expat Emily Blunt premiered her upcoming movie musical, Into the Woods, at the Ziegfeld Theatre in NYC.
The Devil Wears Prada alum, 31, turned a work night into a date night, hitting the red carpet with her handsome husband, John Krasinski. The couple—who have been wed for four years and have one child, Hazel, 10 months—held tight to each other at the event, smiling and laughing together throughout the night.
And Blunt certainly knew how to turn up the heat for the occasion! The Edge of Tomorrow star donned a romantic Dolce & Gabbana dress, with floral embroidery and a sheer polka-dotted bodice that teased theatergoers with a peek at her black balconette bra.
On the beauty front, Blunt chose an updo with loose tendrils that framed her face, peach cheeks, and a red statement lip that matched the dress’ poppy embellishments.
When she momentarily parted ways with her husband, Blunt answered questions on the red carpet—including what it was like to be pregnant with her daughter while filming Into the Woods. “They had to make [the costumes] bigger every week. Poor Colleen Atwood!” Blunt told Us, feeling for the film’s Oscar-winning costume designer. “By the end, we had a lot of shawls and bags. The apron [I wear] became more kind of voluminous. But we got away with it, thanks to her.”
And since giving birth in February, Blunt’s been playing a new role: Mommy. “Hazel’s latest milestone? Oh, she’s crawling. Fast,” the star said, laughing.
Also on the red carpet were Blunt’s costars, including Anna Kendrick and Meryl Streep. While Kendrick, 29, has been preferring a flouncier dress as of late, the Pitch Perfect star went sleek and chic in a black and white Narciso Rodriguez gown. Meanwhile, Streep, 65, donned an all-black ensemble, which she teamed with a Dolce & Gabbana bag.
