Gigi Hadid stepped out looking every bit the angel to help celebrate Russell James’ new book ‘Backstage Secrets‘ (he’s the esteemed photographer of all of the major Victoria’s Secret campaigns), in NYC on Thursday, May 31. The twist: while she did indeed strut her supermodel stuff, Hadid wasn’t scantily clad as you might expect for an event so heavily linked to lingerie. In fact, she was wearing a modest Vivienne Westwood ivory satin shirt dress.

Hadid is a veritable street style star who pivots from edgy two-pieces to midriff baring crop tops and relaxed jeans, but the high neck and long sleeve frock with its Victorian elements is a new vibe for her. And we are on board. Now, Gigi isn’t going full-on puritanical by any means — the midi-length frock did have some pretty high slits, but between the sultry fabric and the elegant cut, she effectively proved once and for all that sometimes leaving a little to the imagination is just as chic as showing a lot of skin.
Then in order to truly flex her cool-girl savoire faire, Hadid added crushed velvet slingback pumps in the same hue, because, as we all know, no one does a monochrome look better than Gigi Hadid. Some other major details included the tie neck and the belted waist to embellish the supermodel’s famous curves.
And of course, the elder Hadid supermodel brought the glam to match. She rocked a sultry nude lip and oh-so-slightly pink flush with relaxed but sleek waves for a beauty look that was nice, with a touch of naughty.
