The Maybelline brand ambassador, 21, was announced as the new face of Reebok’s #PerfectNever movement, described in a press release as “a powerful and inspirational call to action that asks women around the world to celebrate the beauty of imperfection and champions Reebok’s intrinsic message of self-betterment.”

It’s a message that speaks to Hadid, who once went to Junior Olympic qualifiers for volleyball before her days on the runway. “Working out isn’t only physical for me. It’s mental. It helps me escape the noise in my head. It’s the only time my mind goes quiet,” she added in the release. “When I was a competitive athlete, I used to be so focused on being perfect that my coaches would take me out of competing all together. I’d focus on my mistakes which would breed more missteps — a domino effect. Until I learned to change the channel, to re-focus, re-set. It was my mistakes, my imperfections that motivated me most.”

Hadid, who joins Ronda Rousey in the #PerfectNever family, sports a series of items from the fall/winter Reebok collection in the ad campaign and promotional video. The runway stunner, who is dating Zayn Malik, shows off her figure in a black strappy sports bra with matching leggings, one of many looks. But one accessory that stands out are a pair of boxing gloves that she donned in a Tuesday, October 4, Instagram post announcing her new role.

“‘Perfect’ never exceeds expectation. It doesn’t allow us to reach our full potential. May we be confident and have love for who we are, but, in all that we are passionate about, may we always remember that Good is the enemy of GREAT,” she captioned the photo. “Don’t settle. I’m so honored to join a campaign that’s committed to pushing these boundaries for women. Thank you @reebokwomen for creating such an inspiring message of female empowerment — I’m so excited to be a part of it! #PerfectNever”
