Farewell to the runway!
Gisele Bundchen rocked the fashion world last month with news that she plans to retire from the runway portion of her job. Now, the Brazilian beauty, who became a household name in the late '90s, explains why she's choosing to exit stage left after the Colcci fashion show.
"Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop," she told Brazlian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo (via Yahoo!), ahead of the Sao Paulo Fashion Week, which begins Monday, April 13.
The mom of two, 34, has walked in hundreds of shows from Paris to New York City, not to mention her work strutting for Victoria's Secret with heavy Angel wings strapped to her back. "I respect my body, it's a privilege to be able to stop," Bundchen expressed to the newspaper.
Although we won't see her rubbing elbows with the likes of Karlie Kloss or Jourdan Dunn on the catwalk anymore, it doesn't mean she's quitting the business completely.
"I don't see how to continue [modeling on the catwalk]… and stopping will leave room for other projects I have for myself," she said, hinting that something even bigger could be in the works.
