Twelve days after Gwyneth Paltrow made headlines for wearing a sheer Antonio Berardi dress to the Iron Man 3 premiere in Hollywood, the blonde beauty hit a high note at the Costume Institute Gala in New York City May 6. With her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail, the Oscar winner dazzled in a hot pink Valentino gown.

Though some stars like Nicole Richie and Miley Cyrus went all out in celebration of the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition, Paltrow's look was noticeably tamer. "I guess it's punk in that I've gone just totally classic on a punk night," Paltrow told Vogue.com.

The Oscar winner also revealed that punk was big inspiration during her teen years in New York City. "When I was kind of coming of age, it was just post-punk when we were still using a lot of the elements — safety pins in the ear in our little Spence uniforms," the Iron Man 3 actress recalled. "It was a great mix."
