Jennifer Aniston wasn’t always a fan of her iconic fringe.
Aniston, 57, took to Instagram on Thursday, May 14, to advise her followers to think long and hard on a decision to cut bangs. She shared pics of herself through the years playing different characters with bangs. In the first photo, her hair was dyed brown with full bangs cut to her eyebrows as she played Julia in Horrible Bosses, which premiered in 2011.
When fans swiped to the next pic, they saw Aniston as Jennifer Grogan in Marley & Me. In 2008, when the movie debuted, she rocked side bangs that were blended into her blonde mane with angles.
Next, she shared a photo of herself starring in Rock Star in 2001, when she slayed with soft, wispy bangs cut to her eyes and blown out over her forehead. The rest of her hair was pulled back into a half-up coif.
Aniston lastly posted a pic of herself playing Rachel Green in Friends, when she sported blunt side bangs in season 10, which aired from 2003 to 2004.
She concluded her social media post by sharing a meme of two turtles talking. “It took a hundred years, but I finally grew out my bangs,” the sketch was captioned.
“Think before you bang…👀,” Aniston captioned the post. While the actress may not have always loved her bangs, her friends and fans pointed out that she mastered the look each and every time she cut her hair.
“You wore them best ♥️,” Sandra Bullock gushed. A fan commented, “Girl, I don’t think you understand what you’re doing….These posts are going to convince people to get bangs because you always look so good.” A second follower added, “You have rocked it every single time though 🤍.”
Aniston previously opened up about not loving another iconic hairstyle in the 1990s: The Rachel. Created by Chris McMillan, Aniston told InStyle in 2018 that the layered look was pretty high-maintenance.
“I got that haircut and was like, ‘Wow, this is amazing,’” she recalled. “And then I was totally left with this frizzy mop on my head, because I had no idea how to do what he did.”
