When it comes to hair and makeup, no one does glam quite like Jennifer Lopez. Whether she is rocking 50-inch hair extensions on the red carpet or showing off her signature glow, Jenny From the Block always looks #flawless. Celebrating the 4th of July with her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez and family, however, JLo opted for a more laid-back look (by her standards, anyway) in a selfie she posted on Instagram. In addition to her fab bronze goddess contour, the “Dinero” singer sported perfectly tousled waves that her mane man Chris Appleton called her “natural hair texture.”
Reposting JLo’s selfie on his own Insta feed, Appleton explained that the beachy bends were meant to “bring back” her #BornThisWay “perfectly imperfect summer waves.” Honey blonde highlights by colorist-to-the-stars Tracey Cunningham only added to the low-key vibe, while her subtly sculpted cheekbones, bronzy eye and nude lip completed the off-duty look that was ideal for cruising around the Hamptons with A.Rod.
The former baseball player posted a video on his Instagram feed showing his main squeeze — her waves blowing perfectly in the wind — hosting a singalong (and dance-off!) to everything from the Bill Medley and Jennifer Wanes 1987 classic “I Had the Time of My Life” to Cardi B. while he drove with the top down.
But the beach-ready look wasn’t the only selfie Lopez posted this week. On Monday, the songstress shared a pic of herself powering through the sweltering NYC temps with the caption “Am I glowing or is it just 101 degrees in the Bronx right now… #jloglow.” While her radiantly contoured complexion, golden smokey eye and glossy pout were quite similar to her Independence Day makeup, the Bronx-born beauty skipped the waves in favor of a fierce slicked-back ponytail that chicly got her tresses out of the way on a hot and humid day.
So while we all aren’t able to glow quite like JLo, at least we can follow her hair lead with a couple of beat-the-heat workday to weekend styles.
