Bachelorette Jillian Harris hit the first day of NYC's Fashion Week — without fiance Ed Swiderski.
She attended Thursday's Rosa Cha fashion show with Mike Steinberg, the New York-based baseball camp owner whom she eliminated in episode four of the ABC show.
"Ed was supposed to be here today, but then he couldn't book his flight," Harris, 29, told E! News. "Ed and he have been really good friends since the show. So Ed's like, 'You know what, why don't you have Steinberg sit in for me? That'll make some great news.'"
"We want to try to live a normal life and get to the point where we live together and start to come together and then start planning," she said.
As the new issue of Us Weekly reports, the Canada-born Harris is moving into Swiderski's Chicago apartment next week.
"We want everybody to know we are extremely happy and in love," Swiderski, 30, said on Thursday's Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Added Jillian, "This engagement is very different than a typical engagement. As my father said, 'Jill, you are not walking down the aisle.' We are living together, adopting a dog, working charities together and attending family functions. Now we are trying to work at [our relationship at a] more normal level."
Although Swiderski did not directly address Us Weekly's report that he had cheated on Harris with two women, he admitted that "in every sense of the word, I was a bachelor before I went on the show, but I am not perfect. I am a human being."
He also played coy when asked why exes Lindsey Johnson and Bethany Steffen would speak out about his behavior. (Just eight days after he proposed to Jillian, Johnson told Us Weekly she slept with Swiderski. A day later, he texted Steffen to "bring beer and condoms" to his place.)

"I don't know what motivates someone to do something like that," he said. "I did have dialogue with these women and I know them pretty well. I don't know what caused that."
Said Swiderski, "Jillian is one of the most intelligent women I know. I highly doubt that she would be with someone who is not a good person. We are very clear with each other. We know the truth of what happened."
