Cookie would approve of this showstopper! Empire star Kaitlin Doubleday married Devin Lucien on Friday, May 6, at the Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, California, and Us Weekly has all the exclusive details on the bride’s gorgeous dress.
The Catch Me If You Can actress, 31, wore a custom Mark Zunino Atelier dress crafted from Chantilly lace layered over silk crepe. It was embellished with 3-D float details, and boasted a nude illusion back. The A-line dress was finished with a slight train that featured French lace, silk crepe and chiffon. She also added Tacori jewelry.

Doubleday confessed she wasn’t sold by the fitted silhouette at first. “Originally I wanted an A-line dress, but [Zunino] was like, ‘Show off your body?’ And I was like, ‘Really?’ But since his dresses felt so flattering, I wasn’t worried to show off my body,” she told Us Weekly. “I don’t want to not eat so I can look good. It was so flattering that I was like, ‘My body will look really good, and if I’m going to have a baby soon and ruin my body, I may as well show it off now!'”
Doubleday also rocked a romantic braided updo hairstyle by celeb hairstylist Paul Blanch.
But that beautiful ensemble wasn’t long for the party! After mingling with her 137 guests — which included her sister, Mr. Robot actress Portia Doubleday, costar Gabourey Sidibe and Empire creator Lee Daniels — Kaitlin changed into a cocktail dress (also by Mark Zunino) with a peekaboo illusion bodice and a white miniskirt. Plus, she made an important shoe change. “I couldn’t take it anymore,” she told Us of swapping her heels for Adidas sneakers.

“The party dress is my favorite part,” she added. “I basically just found another dress that Zunino had hanging in the atelier, and I was like, ‘I love the structure of this.’ It had big, sort of padded shoulders that were kind of hard, almost like out of a tapestry. It was just superstructured and cool, with an ’80s feel. He said, ‘Yeah, we can work with that structure.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Even though I want it to be all illusion and open?’ They can do anything.”
