Kerry Washington’s Crown Braids: Love It or Hate It?

Just another addition to this week’s braidy bunch!

Kerry Washington debuted a new hairstyle in New York City this week. The Scandal star, 39, assembled her locks into a thick crown braid that wrapped around her head for the Women in the World Summit on April 6. She kept the style but added a few more braids all over her head for her April 8 Today Show appearance.

Washington’s longtime hairstylist, Takisha Sturdivant-Drew, posted a video that showed a sneak-peek of the process on April 8. The hair pro revealed that she used slightly wavy human hair extensions from her own TSD Hair line to perfect the look.

“Kerry and I normally collaborate together so the process is always easy. It also depends on which clothes she will be wearing, and color,” she told Style Blazer.

Washington is quite the gladiator when it comes to changing up her hairstyles. The actress, who shares daughter Isabelle with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, cut her shoulder-length locks into a textured bob in January. And on the 2014 season 4 premiere of Scandal, Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, showed the world her full head of natural curls.
