Sure, Lana Del Rey is used to getting all glammed up for red carpet events and performances, but the “Summertime Sadness” singer prefers a much more low-key style in her downtime. We caught up with the songstress at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at the NASA Ames Research Center in California on Sunday, November 4, where she exclusively shared with Us that her off-duty uniform is all about athleisurewear.
“I’m in like Uniqlo and feel like I’m full soccer mom on a regular daily basis,” Del Rey tells Us of her fall wardrobe essentials. “[It’s] like in Lululemon and Uggs [for me].”
While leggings and furry boots may be her preferred fashion staples IRL, the Grammy nominee opted for a gingham bomber jacket, turtleneck, suede leggings and leather loafers ensemble that she calls “exploratory equestrian chic” at the annual event that honors scientists around the globe with research grants.
The look was super cute but decidedly less glam than the shimmering black pleated Gucci dress she wore to celebrate her new Guilty fragrance campaign at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Thursday, November 2.
The singer and frequent Gucci collaborator (remember that over-the-top feather headpiece from the Italian fashion house she wore to the 2018 “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”-themed Met Gala?) stars alongside Jared Leto in the yet-to-be-released photos and videos for the scent.
Del Rey tells Us that the two-minute video we are all dying to see took a whole week to film and left her feeling like a movie star.
“That really felt like a real Hollywood moment,” she shares, “because we had all these trailers set up between the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and the Valley and got to just shoot all day, every day.”
While there is no telling what whimsical creations the singer will be rocking in the Gucci Guilty campaign, we’re going to guess her beloved yoga pants probably didn’t fly on the high-fashion set.
