Here comes the sun! Natalie Portman continued her red carpet domination at the AFI Fest 2016 presented by Audi on Monday, November 14, in L.A.
For a Jackie screening, the star, who is already receiving major Oscar buzz, glowed in the Le Soleil dress by Dior. The empire-waist design features intricate embroidery, including, yes, a sun on the bodice. Portman, 35, who is pregnant with her second child with husband Benjamin Millepied, finished the look with a Dior jacket and clutch and Tiffany & Co. earrings and rings.
Her latest look is perhaps the star’s edgiest red carpet fashion since announcing her pregnancy in September. Over the last two months, Portman has mostly kept to feminine silhouettes like the one-shouldered Dior dress at the Venice Film Festival 2016, the scoopneck LBD by The Row at the New York Film Festival 2016 and the Prada chiffon gown at the Toronto International Film Festival 2016.
Just as she’s mastered maternity style, Portman said that adopting Jackie Kennedy’s aesthetic was one of the easier aspects of her role in the Pablo Larrain-directed film, out December 2. “The way she talked and the way she moved, the way she looked. Those were things you spend a lot of time on,” she told reporters, including Us Weekly, on the red carpet. The more challenging part of channeling the first lady was getting in touch with the emotions. “It’s really the way she felt that takes the imagination and the real searching,” Portman said. “The other stuff is more like learning a skill as opposed to sort of exploring your own depths.”
