Rachel McAdams, the leading lady in everyone’s favorite romantic dramas, teared up as she witnessed a real life love story this weekend. The Notebook actress appeared to be the maid of honor at her younger sister Kayleen‘s wedding ceremony held outside of Toronto, Canada.
A source tells Us Weekly that the ceremony was held at the Port Cunnington Lodge in Muskoka, which has held “many great family memories” for McAdams, 36, and her family. “She’s been there several times,” the insider tells Us of the locale.
For the special occasion, McAdams looked like ever the classic beauty in a pale blue bridesmaid dress featuring a thin halter neckline and wrap overlay that accentuated her tiny hips. The star paired her lovely bridesmaids dress with Youpiyou stilettos by Louboutin.
The Wedding Crashers star — who memorably served as a bridesmaid in the comedy — beamed as she made her way down the aisle, right before the bride took center stage. The insider tells Us that the ceremony itself wasn’t lavish or over-the-top, but “really touching.”
The source adds that McAdams seemed super close to her sister, a makeup artist based in L.A., and that the entire wedding weekend was “emotional” for the family. At one point, McAdams was snapped dotting her eyes with tissues as she teared up. McAdams also dutifully fixed Kayleen’s train and fulfilled other maid of honor duties throughout the ceremony and during the reception.
The insider says McAdams was carrying tissues with her “everywhere” she went.
“Everyone was so happy and supportive of Kayleen and her new husband,” the source adds. (Kayleen has been Sofia Vergara‘s go-to makeup artist since 2010, and her regular clients have included names like Lily Collins and Zooey Deschanel. “I’m known for my lighter hand with makeup,” McAdams told Us back in 2012.)
Her big sister, meanwhile, has previously played the part of bride several times in various movies, including The Vow with Channing Tatum (2012), The Time Traveler’s Wife with Eric Bana (2009), and About Time with Domhnall Gleeson (2013). She also memorably wore a wedding dress inside a bathtub in her career-defining 2004 drama The Notebook, opposite former flame Ryan Gosling.
