Clad in an embellished olive top and tweed skirt by Chanel, the 17-year-old supported the luxe fashion house at a dinner for a fresh take on their signature fragrance, the new Chanel No. 5 L’eau.
Of course it’s no surprise that Phillippe’s first solo appearance is rooted in fashion. Witherspoon hinted at her daughter’s interest in the industry in April. “She’s so much cooler than I am!” the Oscar winner, 40, gushed to Us Weekly. “She’s very cutting-edge, and she knows a lot about fashion, and she has her own sense of style, which is amazing.”
The Draper James founder, who divorced Ava’s dad Ryan in 2008, also noted that she often finds herself going to her mini-me daughter for outfit advice. “We try to kind of confer about new styles,” explained Witherspoon, who married Jim Toth in March 2011. “She tells me whether or not I can wear things.”
But Ava wasn’t the only celebrity mini-me who showed up for Chanel. Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis’ daughter, Lily-Rose Depp — who is the face of the new fragrance — hosted the dinner at West Hollywood’s Sunset Tower. “Chanel is the most amazing fashion house and I’ve always felt that way my entire life,” she told Us Weekly on the red carpet. “I’m just so honored to be a part of the Chanel family and work with people that I admire so much.”
The Planetarium actress, 17, donned a cropped tweed jacket with low-rise leather pants for the occasion, adding extra sparkle with statement earrings, a chain belt and gold-accented heels. “This was a jacket that went with a dress,” she explained to Us of her ensemble. “But I thought it would be cool to wear it as kind of a long-sleeved crop top … I like it!”
Depp shared that she also has a number one fan in her mom, Paradis. “She’s really supportive,” the model said of her mom’s reaction to her Chanel campaigns (French actress and singer Paradis, 43, modeled for Chanel as well in the past). “She’s really excited for me, and she’s like any mom would be — superproud of me!”
