Being the creative director of the late Alexander McQueen's fashion house is something to be proud of on its own, but in Sarah Burton's case, she also has "creative genius behind Kate Middleton's wedding gown" on her resume.
In a new interview for Interview magazine, Sarah Jessica Parker quizzes the fashion designer, 37, on one of the busiest and meaningful moments in her life: putting together Middleton's dress.
"I'm not actually allowed to talk much about it at all," Burton says, referring to how she kept the details of the Duchess' design top secret. "It was a precious, magical time that I'll always treasure, and I feel like she gave me a gift in many ways. I feel incredibly privileged."
At the same time as Prince William and Kate Middleton's April 29th wedding day, Burton was in charge of another major event, which took place across the pond: the Metropolitan Museum of Art's installation honoring McQueen, named "Savage Beauty."
"Nobody knows what Lee (Alexander) wanted because Lee was so much his own person, but you sort of knew what he loved and what he did feel strongly for," Burton described about putting together the exhibit. "I think that the rooms told a story but each of the garments had their own story and their own character and you could remember how they were made."
The museum's May 2 opening of the installation boasted a who's who in Hollywood, with everyone from Blake Lively to Beyonce turning out in their evening's best for the event.
