Zac attack! Claire Danes and Emily Ratajkowski are among the A-listers who have posed in Zac Posen — and with good reason. The New York City–based designer (who even got a shout-out on a Foxy Brown song once!) has made a name for himself with his artistry. Watch today’s Red Carpet Daily, presented by DirecTV, to get all the behind-the-seams details.
Posen, who launched his label when he was 21, says that his aesthetic has evolved for over 15 years, but one thing always remains the same: quality. “We are a house that is deeply rooted in technique, construction and innovation,” he noted. “It is about embracing and promoting the beauty of diversity.” And even though his dresses have appeared at nearly every major award ceremony (like Ratajkowski’s strapless midnight blue number at the 2016 Emmys), he finds himself anxious on big nights. “I still get nervous every red carpet!” he reveals.
One instance? The 2016 Met Gala, where Danes, 37, wore a strapless pale blue creation glowing with fiber-optic lights as a nod to the “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” theme. “It was a real labor of love,” he revealed. “Really until, like, four days before we did not know if it was going to work … there’s no lights underneath. The fiber optics are woven into the fabric. The fabric itself is moving, traveling, illuminating light.”
Keep watching Red Carpet Daily for more with Posen, including a look at his colorful spring 2017 collection.
