Dr. Engelman echoes that philosophy from a skincare perspective. “To me, ‘beach-ready skin’ is skin that is healthy, balanced and resilient against common summer aggressors like UV exposure, salt and heat,” she says. “It’s not about looking perfect, it’s about protecting and taking good care of our skin. Healthy skin is beautiful skin.”

If there’s one thing all three experts want you to stop doing immediately, it’s trying to overhaul your body a week before vacation.

“The biggest mistake people make is trying to slim down quickly for summer,” says Bauer. “People slash calories too aggressively, cut entire food groups, skip meals or survive on sad salads that leave them miserable and starving at night. Extreme plans usually lead to intense cravings, low energy, mood swings and rebound eating.”

Boots sees the same all-or-nothing mentality with fitness. “Any type of crash diet and aggressive physical activity when you haven’t been consistent all year is going to be a problem,” he says. “You have to accept where you are and make decisions that are safe and possible.”

When it comes to skincare, going overboard can backfire just as dramatically. “The biggest mistake I see is people over-correcting their skin before summer begins by layering on too many treatments or actives,” says Dr. Engelman. “Patients tend to increase exfoliation and retinoids in a short window, which can disrupt the barrier, leading to hyperpigmentation, irritation and UV damage.” The takeaway? Slow and steady wins the race.

What You Can Accomplish in Two Weeks

You probably won’t undergo a dramatic transformation in 14 days, but you can absolutely feel noticeably better. “You can feel leaner, less bloated, more energized and more comfortable in your clothes within a week or two,” says Bauer. Her prescription is refreshingly realistic: hydrate, prioritize protein, pull back on sugar and refined carbs, move your body most days, and aim for quality sleep.

Boots agrees that visible changes can happen quickly when consistency is there. “Women, I would say, may feel the results quickly but see visible results in 10 to 14 days.” The key? Daily effort over heroic one-offs. “Oftentimes people can’t stick to a routine because it seems daunting,” he says. “But committing to something once a day will help you develop a healthy routine.”

One common misconception? That all “healthy” foods are universally easy to digest. “Even some nutritious foods like beans, cruciferous vegetables or protein bars with sugar alcohols can trigger bloating in sensitive people.”

Brown detailed that once salvia built up within each of his cheeks, scar tissue would harden. “There’d be times you’d see me smile, and it was tight,” he said. “My cheeks would be big because they were full of saliva, full of scar tissue. I was in the worst pain.”

Brown, who joined Netflix’s reboot of Queer Eye in 2018, also told the outlet that he signed up for the procedure after “gaining about 70 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

He recalled of the time, “I was a big boy, and everyone online liked to tell me how much of a big boy I was. So, I was like, ‘OK, maybe if I slim out my face, I’ll be cute.’ It turned into a year-and-a-half of pain.”

The former MTV Real World cast member added that the pain he experienced intensified after the premiere of his daytime talk show, The Karamo Show, in 2022. (It was cancelled in March after four seasons.)

“I would shoot six episodes a day, and there’d be times when I was filming my show that my mouth would get so dry and it would be so swollen,” he told the outlet before confirming that he lost 70 pounds in an attempt to mask the scar tissue’s bulge. “The more weight I lost, the less scar tissue you could see,” he explained. “The scar tissue and the saliva were still there, but because I was skinnier, it looked kind of normal. I stopped eating because it helped the feeling of not having so much scar tissue.”

In recent months, Brown “underwent a procedure to fix his saliva glands” which removed scar tissue in his cheeks.

Brown has had a rocky 2025 in other ways, too. In February, his ex Carlos Medel confirmed his split from Brown via an Instagram post. “Although this year I’m single, I still want to make sure love is around! All my love to my friends and family, thank you for being part of my life one more year!” Medel wrote after embarking on a romance with Brown in 2021.

Brown’s interview with People also explored his experience filming Queer Eye with his Fab Five costars, all of whom were divided according to Brown after a sexual harassment complaint was filed against him. (The show’s final season 10 premiered on January 21, and Brown was the only cast member who did not promote the season ahead of its premiere.)

Brown described the set of Queer Eye as a work environment filled with alleged poor behavior. “Everyone would just say, ‘Well, that’s just that person,’ instead of saying, ‘This behavior does not fly in a professional environment,’” he claimed. “It impacted me negatively, consistently.”

He also says that he was cleared of any wrongdoing behind the scenes of Queer Eye.

One day after sharing that she underwent a facelift, O’Donnell, 64, took to Instagram to reveal side-by-side photos of her before and after.

“THE B4 & AFTER,” O’Donnell captioned the Wednesday, May 27, post showcasing her results and shared that her story was on Substack.

In a lengthy poem titled “Decisions” shared via her Substack, O’Donnell got candid about why she went through with it despite previously being against the procedure.

“I used to feel very strongly about facelifts. Not casually – morally. I had assigned myself as head of all women who would never — ever,” she wrote. “I thought it was a betrayal. Of feminism. Of aging. Of our team of women worldwide. And then I lost 50 pounds…”

She continued, “It wasn’t wrinkles — it was gravity. I’d look in the mirror and think — this isn’t aging, this is melting with intention. I tried to be evolved about it. and say things like, ‘This is natural. This is earned.’ And then … ‘Umm how earned does it have to look?’ There’s a point where acceptance starts to feel like lying.”

As O’Donnell began to gather “information” about the procedure, her child Clay, 13, found out she was considering going under the knife and tried to change her mind. (O’Donnell is also the mother of Vivienne, Blake, Chelsea and Parker.)

“‘You earned your wrinkles,’” she recalled Clay telling her. “Which — first of all — rude. But also … correct. Then Clay said, ‘Young women look up to you.’ And finally — with strong effect — ‘I wouldn’t be able to respect you if you did it.’ And that one … landed.”

O’Donnell noted that Clay sounded “exactly” like her younger self, which “really threw [her].” O’Donnell ended up delaying “the whole thing for months,” while continuing to think about it. Ultimately, O’Donnell realized she needed to teach Clay that bodies do not “belong to an idea.”

“Because that’s still not freedom — that’s just a different authority telling you what you’re allowed to do with your own face,” she explained. “I want [Clay] to grow up in a world where they don’t feel like they have to change, but also know they can, if they want to, without losing moral standing in their own life.”

In January, O’Donnell underwent the cosmetic procedure.

“Right before I went under, I grabbed my doctor’s hand and said, ‘I will never say, ‘God, I wish you did more.’” And I meant it,” she recalled. “I didn’t want to become that voice — the one that keeps moving the goalpost, never satisfied, the one that turns their own face into a problem one can never quite solve. I wanted a limit. I wanted to still be me, just … less haunted. And I do look like me — A slightly more well-rested, emotionally stable version of me.”

Since then, O’Donnell claimed that “no one has noticed” a change in her face.

“I didn’t disappear, I didn’t become someone else — I just stopped arguing with the mirror,” she added. “And maybe that’s enough. Or at the very least … it’s what a lower deep plane face lift looks like when it minds its own business.”

O’Donnell concluded, “As I get ready for the last day of school with my youngest — the caboose — here at 64 years old, with a new lower face and neck, just happy to be alive, able to feel and choose, and use my voice whenever I feel called to, for the girl I was, the woman I am and all those joining my ranks as we carry on in act three, this is me.”
