Dancing with the Stars, launched in 2005, is an Emmy-award winning dance competition where celebrities are paired with professional dancers and face weekly eliminations based on the viewers' votes.
Based on the British TV series Strictly Come Dancing, the show's animated judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman have been on board since the beginning. Tom Bergeron currently hosts DWTS; his co-host, Samantha Harris, left at the end of the ninth season in 2009.
The show has made household names out of several dancers, such as Cheryl Burke, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Karina Smirnoff, Derek and Julianne Hough, Mark Ballas and Lacey Schwimmer.
The series has also been known to resurrect the careers of several celebrities, including Kelly Osbourne, Shannen Doherty, Mel B., Mario Lopez and Lil' Kim.
The show began its 10th season in March 2010 with former contestant Brooke Burke as co-host.
