When Anne Hathaway stepped out in a sparkling Valentino gown at the Princess Grace Awards Gala in NYC Tuesday, she needed a makeup look that was fit for royalty.

For celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo, that meant luminous skin, defined eyes and a stand-out lip color. Below, the 29-year-old One Day actress' makeup pro gives Us Weekly the full how-to below.

Vanngo started off by prepping Hathaway's skin with a rich moisturizing cream. Next, he applied a tiny bit of moisturizer with an ivory-colored foundation and applied it to her face and neck, then dabbed concealer under her eyes and around her nose.

"For the eyes, I applied a shimmering brown eye shadow all over her eyelids and in the corners, then a soft neutral beige shadow around the lash lines, focusing on the uppers. To finish the eyes, I applied two coats of Lancome Definicils Mascara in Deep Brown ($25, lancome-usa.com)."

On her cheeks Vanngo opted for a soft orange cream blush and used a coral powder blush to set the color. "I also used a highlighting powder on the apples of her cheeks, cheekbones and forehead to make her skin even more luminous."

After prepping the star's lips with a lip treatment, Vanngo went for a scarlet lipstick. "Anne has full gorgeous lips so I applied it like a stain with my finger instead a lip brush and made it more intense in the center of the lip."
