She's all "short hair, don’t care," but there's so much more to Jessica Simpson's fresh cut than a cute slogan!

On Saturday, Oct. 25, the mega-mogul, 34, debuted her new blunt lob and lighter hue, courtesy of stylist Roque Jimenez and colorist Rita Hazan. And Us Weekly caught up with both pros to learn all about the glam style!

"I went over to her house on Friday, before she went out to dinner with her kids," Jimenez, who also works with Mariah Carey and Idina Menzel, exclusively told Us Weekly. "She wanted a change! She's been growing her hair out for a while now, but she wanted something that would be easier to style."

At first, Jimenez said that the mom of two wanted to cut her long, lush waves all the way to her chin! "But I cut off three inches to start, then took one more inch off after that. She loves it!" The result: a graduated blunt cut with a texture (as seen iin the shot with husband Eric Johnson). "Don’t be surprised if she goes even shorter soon!" the pro added.

I love him

But of course, length wasn't the only thing Simpson changed about her look that weekend. Hazan, the colorist behind Katy Perry and Beyonce's colorful manes, lightened her blonde hair to a "baby blonde" color, one to two shades lighter than her previous bombshell hue. "We decided that blonde is the hot color to rock right now, and this is the blondest we've seen her in a long time," she told Us.

But for Hazan, a house call for Simpson isn't just about creating a color that will get people talking—it's about seeing her friend, too. "We always have fun when I color her hair," she said. "We catch up and we talk beauty and fashion. This time was especially fun because of the big change—the haircut—that came right after the color."
