Johnny Depp's got a new hairdo! The 50-year-old actor was a surprise guest at the 2013 BFI London Film Festival Awards on Saturday, Oct. 19, and looked nearly unrecognizable with bleached blonde hair.

Depp's brunette locks have been dyed a bright yellow color, but his roots remain dark. The Lone Ranger star, looking slim and handsome in a black tux, styled his new 'do by parting it in the middle.

"It's my great honor to be here," Depp said on stage. He starred alongside Lee, 91, in the Tim Burton-directed films Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow and Dark Shadows. Depp called the actor a "wonderful inspiration" and said it was "certainly a childhood dream come true to work" with Lee.

Depp is known for drastically changing his appearance for movie roles, but no word yet if that's the reason for his latest hairdo. The actor is currently filming the movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical Into the Woods, in which he plays The Wolf alongside Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine and other stars in the fairy tale flick.
