Lea Michele’s Bangs Genius: How to Hide the Fringe Hairstyle Like the Glee Star!

Bangs be gone!

Lea Michele has been sporting blunt bangs since 2010. But five years is a very long time—especially in celeb hair-land—so it’s no wonder the Glee star has mastered the art of pushing and pinning them back, making them all but disappear when she wants them to.

Since this past October, Michele, 28, has been parting, twisting, slicking, and tucking—but never cutting!—her bangs for red carpet events, including the 2015 Golden Globes and PaleyFest 2015, where she dished on the finale of her hit FOX series, airing on Friday, March 20.

Looking to do the same to your fringe? Enter Riawna Capri, Clear celebrity hairstylist and co-owner of Nine Zero One salon in Los Angeles, who told Us Weekly, “There are tons of different styles you can do to disguise bangs, no matter the length!”

First thing’s first: Hit the salon—especially if your bangs are thick. “Have your stylist remove some weight out of your bangs,” Capri, who also works with Julianne Hough and Nina Dobrev, explained. “They can look bulky or haphazard if they’re not properly thinned out as they grow. Once you do that, it makes it much easier to part them or push them to the side.”

After that, you’re ready to go wild with experimentation! For instance, perfect for spring and summer, try French braiding your fringe around your face for a mini-braided headband

Another easy fix is accessorizing. “Pick up some new clips, headbands, and bobby pins to test out styles that disguise your bangs,” recommended the stylist. “Tease hair at the roots to add volume, pinning bangs and securing them under a headband. Or part hair down the middle, twisting your bangs before pinning them on either side.”

And one last thing—don’t forget a good matte wax to keep your bangs wherever you want them without a greasy look.
