How did Ashley Greene get fit for New Moon?

"It was really easy," the actress, 22, told Usmagazine.com Saturday at the Magnificent Mile Festival of Lights event in Naperville, Il. "We were working 12 hours a day, so it didn't leave too much time to eat."

After her response, her publicist nudged her, but Greene didn't seem to care about her blunt answer.

When she did eat, she chose "really healthy stuff, which was nice."

Greene also said that training extensively for the sequel -- which had the third biggest box office opening of all time -- accounted for her figure in the movie.

"We had a personal trainer and then we also had fight training," she told Us. "It was a good four hours a day of training."

To stay in shape these days, she said she does Pilates, usually six days a week.

"I do it early in the morning. It wakes you up, and it's kind of refreshing," said Greene, who is headed to London in a few months to begin filming the thriller The Apparition. "And that is basically it. Sometimes cardio. I am not a big weight person because when I do weights I build muscle mass."

Elaine at 12:49 PM: Just because she doesn't "look" anorexic does not mean she did the right thing. Her body does not reflect on the starvation inside. Just so you know.

I have been an extra on a couple movies and that is most certainly NOT the case for these actors...not having enough time to eat! There is easily more down time than action time more often than not. Setting up and re-setting up the scene for the shot. And come on, she had like 4-5 big scenes in this one this time around. It was more than before but still...spare me...no time to eat...that's responsible!

Everyone posting here needs to just relax - she looks great

  • November 23, 2009 - 12:49pm Elaine

Calm down people!! She doesn't look anorexic. She ate healthy, not as often, and exercised. That's the only way to slim down.

Mickey: saying that she doesn't have enough time to eat is starving herself. You can't (nor anyone else) tell me that she is working constantly that she couldn't eat on the side at some point! At least she's honest but US Weekly should be ashamed of themselves for promoting this "diet" for people/youth to read. And working out 4 hours per day is not healthy either-especially when your not eating!

US is being highly irresponsible for printing this absolutely stupid comment. As "journalists" reporting on anything, you have a responsibility to your young readers. Shame on you for this. My niece is 10 and she would never be allowed to read this CRAP. Where has the sense of decency in the country gone???? Any and all respect I had for this actress is completely GONE! She is a role model whether she likes it or not. She is a pathetic one at best.

For once we get an honest answer! No eating+personal trainer+4 hours working out including martial arts training+bits and pieces of healthy eating here and there which is 'nice'+Pilates 6 days a week=ANOREXIC JUST LIKE THE MAJORITY OF HOLLYWOOD. PS: Why am I even reading this gossip site anyway? I have tons of better things to do!

I agreee with Mickey 10:27am. Twisting someone's words around sure can make a good story, eh?

  • November 23, 2009 - 11:11am af

Don't eat. Work out 6 days a week. Spend tons of money on a personal trainer. Horrible.

  • November 23, 2009 - 11:04am hithere

They just changed the title. Original title was "Ashley Greene: Not Eating Got Me in Shape for New Moonâ??"

  • November 23, 2009 - 11:02am kt

Give me a break! She was honest! Do you want her to tell your little kids that she eats everything she wants and doesn't gain a pound??? People need to stop worrying about what these stars say! Geez! I grew up in the Twiggy era and knew I would NEVER look like that.

  • November 23, 2009 - 10:53am Cyn

The Magnificent Mile Lights Parade is in CHICAGO not Naperville! Come on US, just because both cities are in Illinois doesn't mean you can randomly chose one.

  • November 23, 2009 - 10:41am Anon

Sadly its true. You stay busy and when you eat make it healthy. True.

  • November 23, 2009 - 10:39am SH

At least her publicist tried to shed light on her stupidity. She clearly doesn't care she's setting a bad example for young girls out there.

  • November 23, 2009 - 10:31am Jackie

This is basically the same thing as Kate Moss said on Friday when US posted it.

  • November 23, 2009 - 10:27am mickey

oh jeez. she is not saying she starved herself. she is saying that because she was working so many hours, that she didn't have TIME to eat. Plus, if you read the whole little article -- she was working out 4 hours a day!

  • November 23, 2009 - 10:20am ab

That's a good one to tell all the kiddies...just don't eat and you can look like me!
