Hilary Duff: How Mike Comrie Proposed in Maui

Hilary Duff had a hunch hockey player, Mike Comrie, might propose to her.

"We had talked about it," she says on the Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday. "I thought maybe it would happen this summer."

But when he popped the question in February during a Hawaiian vacation after nearly three years of dating, "I was pretty taken off guard," the singer, 22, says.

"My girlfriend was like, 'You guys are going to Maui; he's going to propose for sure!'" she says. "And, I'm like, 'No way.' I was surprised. It was really nice."

How did he do it?

During their Maui vacation, "he went to go get us a glass of wine because we were going to watch the sun go down and he called my mom like a half-hour before ... so there would be no way of it slipping out. We're really close, so I'm sure it would have been hard to keep that secret."

He then got down on one knee and asked if she'd wed him.

Says Duff, "He did the whole thing."

Duff recently told UsMagazine.com they don't have a date yet. "I haven’t done anything!" she said, adding that she has yet to find a dress. What is she most excited about? "Just getting married!" she told Us.

I guess ur lovelife sux Ms. Nancy Stevens! When people cannot have happiness for others and take the time to comment on celebrities who are already under a magnascope are no doubt very unhappy themselves..... Leave Hilary alone.... She is by far the best role model young girls have out there have... I have been following Hilary duff since Lizzie Mcguire and she has stayed faithful to portraying a reputable image.... And just because she is blonde??? What, did your husband leave u for a blonde or sumthing... So prejugdice!!!!! And for the millions she has, she way more than deserves it and gives so much back to charity... like the program for kids to have a lunch... Wow u must honestly be the biggest loser on the face of the earth Ms Nancy Stephens.... Team Hilary 4 life!!!!!

This little girl is in denial if she thinks a proposal means love!!! Come on sweetie he is a shallow Canuck- he ONLY proposed to you because you are 22,blonde,rich (and mind you you DIDN'T earn your millions with REAL talent!!),and you have veneers and fake breasts...he doesn't love YOU- little girl;he loves your money and your fake breasts and the fact that you are blonde and 22! I am beautiful,but I don't have millions, and I am not blonde,I am not 22, and my breasts and teeth,though beautiful, are REAL! If I were as fake and rich superficial as you little girl I could take your shallow Canuck in a heartbeat!!So hate to break it to you little girl but it doesn't matter HOW he proposed;once he finds someone younger and hotter, you WILL lose him and your engagement will be off!!!
